Three Muses: Fashion

DEDICATED FOLLOWERS OF FASHION!
"HARAKUKU"
I would like to introduce you to the amazing 'fashion' of Japenese 'fashionistas'. This is what the site says about the "HARAKUKU' style.
Just simply amazing!
Harajuku clothing style involves mixing and (mis) matching different fashions and styles. Harajuku fashion changes and evolves constantly, sometimes mixing traditional Japanese clothing such as kimonos and geta sandals with other styles. Everything from punk, goth to designer clothes can be mixed and mismatched with colorful accessories to create a unique and individual style.

Glenys, I love this post! The vibrant colors are so fun to see...These girls are daring. Thanks for sharing the link with us. I have more to say, but I'm going to put it in an e-mail in a few minutes. Have a great day!

bravo Glenys, your choice is pertinent. A real mixed-fashion, think that only japanese can be so excessive with natural!!
Merci, merci

Glenys - how fascinating! I had no idea about Harajuku - I just thought they dressed very oddly! Now I know what I myself can get away with! 'o)

Oh PLEASE tell me our teenagers will not see this. I haven't recovered from drooping pants yet! This is great fun, Glenys. If it catches on, I'll come after you!!!

Now there is a colorful collage - a little kooky maybe but scrumptious. These are grown women aren't they? If we didn't know better we would think that they are 10 year old schoolgirls. In a way they remind me of my kids growing up in the eighties. I think the HARAJUKU generation would have been very comfortable in that era. Fantastic portrayal of this fashion craze.

They look like classmates from my son Mitchell's school Glenys !!
I think it's always nice when the youth choose for an outspoken style !!
I did that in my teenage years too !! LOL
I often walked around in blouses from my grandfather whahaaa.

I'm so glad I met you...it's always a feast to see what you've made for a challenge !!

Same thoughts as Peggy, love the Goth look especially, Glenys, very eclectic mix! I just had to look for one of your entries from WOW and came across 'Raitzeilea' - spectacular costume!! I attended the very first one in Wellington in 2005, if you enter this year we will have to meet as I am only 30 minutes away!

I think my DIL works with someone who actually wears this type of style...she describes it as off the wall, but it's unique for sure!

Thanks for introducing me to a new fashion style, Glenys. Wish I was young enough, and had the shape, to try it out!

Great idea. These colored outfits are like paradise for a photographer, I've seen some books dedicated only to them. Very artsy, but not for me, ever, I'd feel awkward drawing so much attention... Hey, Glennys,Saint Google told me what rick rack braid was, 'cause my english isn't that good :) I had dresses embellished with them when I was a child.
