Collage Obsession: Family

Family Evening in.

This is my response to Eila's challenge on Collage Obsession.
A family from a humble background, but still has the HUGE digital TV screen to watch... a sign of our times, sad to say!
Thanks to Eila and the image, just slip over to Collage Obsessions and see what is new!
You are very welcome to join in.

Collage Obsession: Tarot/Wheel of Fortune

I know nothing about Tarot Cards and their meanings...I do hope that I have not offended any of the Tarot enthusiasts out there... I apologise if I have.

Three Muses: Fashion

I would like to introduce you to the amazing 'fashion' of Japenese 'fashionistas'. This is what the site says about the "HARAKUKU' style.
Just simply amazing!
Harajuku clothing style involves mixing and (mis) matching different fashions and styles. Harajuku fashion changes and evolves constantly, sometimes mixing traditional Japanese clothing such as kimonos and geta sandals with other styles. Everything from punk, goth to designer clothes can be mixed and mismatched with colorful accessories to create a unique and individual style.

Take a Word: Botanical

From big things little things grow!!
It is the botanical names that interest me!! Big long names! Many unpronounceable to the 'layman', such as
X Cupressocyparis leylandii : Leyland Cypress
Xanthorroea australis : Australian Grass Tree
Taraxacum ceratophorum : Dandelion...
so I thought that I would plant the names and see how they grow!!
They are doing well.... new shoots everywhere!

Three Muses: Artist of choice.

Secret Artists.
I have always been very fascinated with the street art of the world...not 'tagging'... but 'proper' spray can art that has been very much maligned for many years.
The tide has turned and there are now many 'outdoor' galleries in lane ways, on buses, on abandoned anything...but in Melbourne, Australia they have taken it a step further and have opened galleries in lane ways that change about every couple of months. Some of these works are now being 'collected' by the National Gallery of Victoria as part of their art collection. How do they do this? By simply buying a piece on the wall and covering it with a sheet of perspex to keep it from being covered with other art.
It blows my mind... the talent of these "Secret Artists"!!

Cabaret Reflection

Not that I have much time.... but of recent weeks I have given myself a 'holiday' from my normal 'job' ( do I have a normal job? never sure about that!!) to play with Photoshop, catch up with my blogs and learning a whole lot of new techniques, so that I can be up to speed when I do the challenges for Collage Obsession, Take a Word and Three Muses
Cabaret Reflection is just one of the 'trial' pieces... different, eh?

A Rainbow at the end of Turmoil.

We live in a country of extremes.... bush fires on one side of the country and devasting, deadly floods on the other.

I am pasting a poem that my 15 year old grandaughter wrote, that really captures how we all feel and how we will come through all that Mother Nature wants to throw at us.

By the time we sensed it, it was too late
We had no warning
It just came and took away

It was strong
we tried so hard to get away
but we couldn’t

It was tall
It towered the trees
It destroyed

It was destructing
nothing was left

It took away
our pride

our Happiness

our life

but only for a while

Still, Im waiting for my
to tell me everything's going to be alright

because I know it won’t be
at least not for a while.

New Blogsite

Needed to start something fresh for 2011.
After a lot of thought and a whole lot more consternation, I decided that I would concentrate on a blog that has a lot of images... from the camera or made in photoshop... that are not related to any challenges that I do with my other blog site.

So a few musings.... a few thoughts.... a few limitless things that I will place here to encourage you to look at what is happening within this world and mind of mine.

Three Muses: Old Fashioned

The Times they are A-changing.
The Bob Dylan song was in my mind for this challenge for Old Fashioned.
Being married is old fashioned to some!
The Times
They Are A-Changing.
Bob Dylan

Come mothers and fathers
Throughout the land
and don't critisize
If you don't understand
Your sons and daughters
Are beyond your command
Your old road is
Rapidly agin'
Please get out of the new one
If you can't lend a hand
For the times they are a-changing.
